SCENES for the star-studded new Avengers film are being shot at Dover Castle, the Express can exclusively reveal.
Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jnr, Samuel L Jackson and Chris Hemsworth are among the world-famous actors playing superhero Marvel characters in the mega-bucks Hollywood blockbuster.
Castle Inn landlord Paul McMullan told the Express: "Robert Downey Jnr has been there [at Dover Castle] all week.
"I was waiting outside his winnebago and one of the crew said to clear off because it was his chill out space.
"There's a crew of around 100 people here."
The Russell Street publican has also seen a blonde woman diving into a blacked out BMW.
A private helicopter was spotted in a field near the castle on Tuesday morning – and certain areas of the site have been closed to the public.
English Heritage said this is “due to a private special event” but have refused to deny Avengers: Age of Ultron is being filmed in Dover.
An English Heritage spokesman said: “Due to a private special event, the second floor and roof of the Great Tower at Dover Castle is inaccessible between June 9 and June 24.
“Visitors are able to experience the ground floor and first floor of the Great Tower and the rest of the 80 acre site including the Secret Wartime Tunnels as usual.
“However between June 16 and 18, the whole of the Great Tower is inaccessible.
“Tours of parts of the site not normally open to the public are available between the June 16 and 18.”
Rumours first emerged on Twitter on Monday evening that filming was taking place at Dover Castle.
Simon Phillips, who runs Broad Lees Farm where the chopper was spotted, said: “All I know is there is filming going on at the castle and they hired out the field for whatever purpose.
“If they’ve landed a helicopter that’s up to them.”
On Tuesday morning, Bradley Ellison Tweeted: “Just seen Iron Man's helicopter outisde Dover castle. #whatswrongwiththesuit #AvengersAgeOfUltron”
The Express has asked filmmakers Marvel Studios for a comment.
Age of Ultron will be the sequel to the 2012 Avenger's movie, which had a budget of £130 million.
